PROEFFICIENCY is a three year project, supported by Intelligent Energy Europe, which focuses on increasing the use of energy efficient lighting, fridges and freezers.
An initiative to promote the use of energy efficient lighting and refrigeration in Europe
Bringing together retailers and consumers in voluntary pilot initiatives to increase awareness and uptake of energy efficient products
PROEFFICIENCY Brochure & Poster
PROEFFICIENCY Technical Guides for Lighting and Cold Appliances
The key aim of the project is to support and monitor a number of voluntary pilot projects with both retailers and consumers to promote energy efficient lighting and cold products in a number of regions across Europe.
In addition to raising awareness of energy efficient products amongst retailers and consumers, the project is intended to save around 4,000 MWh per year as a direct result of improvements in lighting and cold appliance products used in the pilot projects. The UK pilot projects are expected to contribute approximately 500 MWh of these savings.
The project will run from 2006-2009. During this time, each partner organisation will work with local promoters and consumer organisations to identify and develop a number of lighting and cold product pilot initiatives in each region.

Severn Wye Energy Agency is responsible for co-ordinating the development of regional pilot projects in the UK. The impact of these pilots will be closely monitored, and the results disseminated widely at the end of the project through a series of conferences and workshops.
A number of project pilots is currently being developed, including:
Spectrum - a project working with the UK Lighting Association and regional Energy Efficiency Advice Centres to encourage local independent lighting retailers to promote and stock a wider range of energy efficient light bulbs;
LightSwitch a project working with local authority staff to encourage the update of energy efficient lighting in the office and at home;
A green procurement project to encourage organisations buying fridges and freezers to invest in more energy efficient products;
A project working with HM Prison Service to encourage local prisons to switch to more efficient lighting; and
Working with a local retailer to promote and increase the number of energy efficient fridges and freezers purchased by the public.
AMDEA 'Time to Change' Campaign Joining forces with AMDEA to promote energy efficient cold appliances to the public.
