Background
PROEFFICIENCY is a three year project, supported by Intelligent Energy Europe,
which focuses on increasing the use of energy efficient lighting, fridges and
freezers.
Aims
The Association of
Manufacturers of Domestic Appliances - (AMDEA)
‘Time To Change’ Campaign
aims to remove
11.7 million outdated,
energy inefficient fridges and freezers in
UK homes that are
ten or more years old which are needlessly wasting £900 million worth of
electricity a year. SWEA and the UK’s PROE project have joined forces with AMDEA with
an aim collaborate efforts for awareness raising through media
opportunities, a joint workshop and the production of information
leaflets for distribution through the Energy Efficiency Advice Centre
network and the general public.

Expected Savings
It is difficult to predict the energy and CO2
savings to be achieved by this pilot project as it is mainly an
awareness raising campaign however AMDEA have agreed to monitor the
number of hits to their
‘Time
to Change’ website. Other ideas for monitoring savings may
become apparent as the project develops.
