Background

The cold product retail pilot called 'Cool Saving' is apilot project for PROEFFICIENCY - a three year project, supported by Intelligent Energy Europe, which focuses on increasing the use of energy efficient lighting, fridges and freezers.

Aims

The objective of this pilot project is for a main local appliance retailer to stock and promote more energy efficient cold products to the general public, with support from the local energy efficiency advice centre.

Expected Savings

It is anticipated that this pilot could save up to 20 MWh and 8 tCO2 per year, based on an assumption of influencing 100 purchase decisions during the pilot, with each cold product substitution saving approx 224 kwh/year.
