Profile
For homeowners, businesses and community groups looking to embark on the installation of energy efficiency or renewable energy measures, it can be difficult to know where to begin. With the Green Deal set to start in early 2013, giving these people a hand getting started on their home improvements is the aim of a Severn Wye’s Sustainable Energy Installer Network.
Covering businesses in Gloucestershire, South Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and adjacent communities, the Installer Network is an online database comprises companies who carry out sustainable energy works in the domestic, community, business and public sectors.
From solar thermal panels to wind turbines, and from boiler repairs to full heating system replacements, the network provides people with a list of all the appropriately accredited installers who carry out the relevant work in their area.
The key aims of the Sustainable Energy Installer Network are:
- To enable building owners and occupants to find installers who are able to make improvements to the energy performance of their homes and to give them a choice of installers who are as local to them as possible
- To link local installers to local jobs
- To enable installers to identify providers of complimentary services so that they can deliver more complex solutions to customers
The network was established in 2012, and currently has more than 100 businesses listed, ranging from large regional organisations through to smaller ‘one-man-band’ type operations covering all types of domestic and business needs.
The network was established with support from Wiltshire County Council.
