Community buildings

Severn Wye has worked with more than 150 village halls, church halls, sports pavillions and other community facilities across Wales, Herefordshire, South Gloucestershire, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire.

We have built up a wealth of knowledge and expertise over the years, helping to make community buildings warmer and more comfortable to use, whilst making significant long term savings on their fuel bills.

We want to share that experience with communities to help them make community buildings become more energy efficient, cheaper to run and more attractive to users.

We have a team of experienced technical experts who can come out and visit your site. They will be able to conduct a bespoke energy audit giving detailed recommendations on measures that can improve your building.

These measures might include:

  • Advice on meters, tariffs and suppliers
  • No cost behavioural changes and energy reduction campaigns
  • Optimisation of existing heating systems and controls
  • Advice on lighting and electrical applicances
  • Improving insulation levels and air tightness
  • Upgrading glazing
  • Options for generating clean energy from renewable resources
  • Recycling and composting
  • Water conversation and efficiency

We can then provide follow-up support to help you get measures installed. This might involve:

  • Advice on planning permission, listed building consent and other specific licences where required
  • Access to our Link to Energy site to help you choose a local, qualified and accredited installation company
  • Help with obtaining and reviewing quotes for work
  • Support with identifying and applying for funding, including registering for the Feed-in Tariff and the Renewable Heat Incentive
  • Consulting with the community on your project ideas
  • Promotion and publicity for your scheme
