Midsummer Supper 2010

SWEA Celebrates over 10 Years of Achievements

Back in early July 2010 Severn Wye Energy Agency held a 'Midsummer Supper' to celebrate 10 successful years of working on energy efficiency, renewable energy and affordable warmth projects. It was also an opportunity to formally 'open' our new 5.9 kW photovoltaic (PV) arrays residing on the roof of our offices at Highnam Business Centre, near Gloucester.

The photovoltaic system was funded through the ScottishPower Green Energy Trust and installed by local company Greenearth Energy, our thanks to them and also to our landlords at Highnam Business Centre, Ed and Sarah Keene.

The informal event was attended by over 120 people and was an opportunity for Severn Wye Energy Agency to say thank you to the great many people who have supported and worked with it both past and present.

Guest speakers representing sectors and organisations with whom we have worked particularly closely over the years gave an overview of our partnership work, they included:

Kaye Welfare, Heather Watts, Bart Venner, Andrew Ward, Catrin Maby

Catrin said "This is a celebration of 10 very successful years of promoting our aims of carbon reduction and affordable warmth. We were delighted to be joined by so many friends and colleagues with whom we have worked hard over the last 10 years to drive forward the sustainable energy agenda - here's to the next 10."

There was also an opportunity for attendees to view displays of Severn Wye Energy Agency projects past and present, and take a guided tour of the building and PV system. They also enjoyed the excellent jazz music and food all washed down with a glass of Pimm's. For more photos, see our photo gallery.
