Grants for Domestic Renewables
Summer 2012

Renewable energy installations for domestic properties are now supported primarily by the Feed-In Tariffs (since April 2010) and the forthcoming domestic phase of the Renewable Heat Incentive (expected from 2013).

Green Heat - RHPP grants extended!

As a lead-in to the domestic phase of the RHI, tide-over grants are available for certain 'green heating' technologies in properties not served by the mains gas grid - except for solar hot water, for which £300 grants are available to all householders.

The scheme is called the Renewable Heat Premium Payment, and has now been extended through 2012. It is administered by the Energy Saving Trust, and grants are claimed via a 'voucher' system - with up to £1,250 available for heat pumps.

Other Schemes

Unfortunately, all other previous national and local grant schemes for householders have CLOSED to all applicants, regardless of circumstances. Future support, in the form of dedicated finance schemes for domestic energy makeovers, will arrive through the government's Green Deal from late 2012.
