Working with communities

It’s difficult to define what exactly a ‘community’ is – is it a town, village or parish council area?

Or is it a local charity, church or other organised group of individuals? Perhaps it could be a collection of concerned individuals with a shared interest, such as a school, community building or energy supply? Or it could be a group of neighbours with a single, united goal.

At Severn Wye we work with a variety of these ‘communities’ on sustainability and energy initiatives helping to train, educate, provide technical support, background information and a multitude of other services. Below are a range of the various projects we’ve worked on recently.

Project to bring together, empower and improve the quality of life for a number of poor, urban communities in Wales.

The Vital Villages project has been set up to support communities throughout Monmouthshire wishing to address the long term future viability of their community resource.

Energy Neighbourhoods is a four month energy saving competition designed to help households become more aware of how they use energy in the home, and bring their consumption down by changing the way they do things around the home.

Pathfinder was a two-year programme which examined and supported community action on climate change across Wales.

Ynni’r Fro is a Welsh Government programme to support the development of renewable energy schemes by social enterprises.
