Call an Energy Champion

Gloucestershire's volunteer Energy Champions are able to refer people in their areas to a range of energy grants and other offers. The eleven Gloucestershire Energy Champions have knowledge of grants and special offers for energy saving measures.

Energy Champion David Wilson who lives in Dursley has already made use of his training by referring people in need to avalible Grants. Until I became an Energy Champion I had no idea of the problems many people have in trying to keep warm in their own homes. David has carried out over 15 visits in his local area since he became an Energy Champion. People request visit for a number of reasons; some because they are cold and can not afford their bills, others because they are concerned about the effect of Global Warming and want to be advised on ways to cut down on their energy consumption, he continued.

With the oncoming cold weather and the recent floods highlighting the effects of global warming its likely that the Energy Champions services are going to be called on much more in the future said Kaye Welfare Project Manager, The Severn Wye Energy Agency. If you would like a visit from an Energy Champion please phone Freephone 0800 0851967

The Energy Champion scheme was established earlier this year with funding from National Energy Action; it is managed by the Severn Wye Energy Agency with support from Stroud District Council and Forest of Dean District Council. Energy Champions are trained to visit people in their homes to give advice on keeping warm, cutting fuel bills and saving energy
