Energy Advice in
Europe : Conference on November 12th 2007, Paris
Background
Good quality energy advice is essential to the achievement of
sustainable energy objectives for several reasons:
The impact of energy performance certification in terms of
energy saving can only be realised if accompanied by effective advice about
actions to improve performance
The potential savings from concrete measures will not be fully
realised without advice, such as understanding how to use a new heating system
or adapt to lower heat demand after insulation
The potential take-up of measures is not achievable without
advice, which motivates and enables citizens to choose and install measures
relevant to their situation
Aims
SErENADE is a project to support the enhancement of the range,
scope and quality of energy advice provision in Europe by enabling an
effective exchange of knowledge, experience and tools. The project scope
includes advice on energy efficiency, renewable energy and sustainable
transport. It will address advice to households, small and medium enterprises
and local authorities.
The project will provide:
-
A review of the real scope of energy advice provision
throughout the European Community, the skills and tools required, and the
methodologies used.
-
Web-based tools and resources, with links to established and
successful services to support the development of quality provision of
energy advice across the Community
-
A forum for exchange of knowledge and experience between
skilled practitioners and new providers.
-
The project will also deliver a pro-active dissemination
programme to promote the benefits of energy advice and resources available.
It is anticipated that the project will lead to an improvement in the
overall quality of the energy advice services provided by the partners, by
learning from each other.
SErENADE will target existing and potential energy advice
providers, such as:
energy agencies
advice and information centres
consumer organisations
local and regional authorities and municipalities
small business advisers
customer liaison and advice staff in fuel companies and
housing organisations
