Llanidloes Community-Ysgol Energy Project

Llanidloes Energy Solutions (LLES), a local community energy advice group approached Pathfinder to assist in finding ways to extend their reach, interesting households not traditionally engaged in energy conservation. Funding opportunities are currently being sought for the project.

Identifying younger people in schools as a possible target group, LLES intend to train young people in Llanidloes High School to become energy managers. Young people will develop an energy action plan for their school. Increasing their employability, young people will go out into the community on work placement and develop bespoke action plans for local businesses and public sector buildings. Each action plan will contain a number of low cost behaviour changes as well as recommendations for infrastructure improvements. A number of parallel activities will be running to extend energy conservation behaviours from school to the home. With an emphasis on fun, some activities will involve sponsorship of teaching staff and pupils to carry out energy conservation measures in their dwellings.

Pembroke 21 C Community Association - Pembroke Can Make a Difference Food project

Following a decade of delivering successful projects across the town, Pembroke 21 C are currently working on a new food project called "Pembroke can make a difference". With the support of an Environment Wales Supporting Sustainable Living stage one grant and Pathfinder Programme the group is exploring the best ways to help people make more sustainable choices around food. It also aims to increase Pembroke's resilience to the impact climate change may have on food supply/cost.

The project may have a particular emphasis on increasing the production and consumption of local and seasonal fruit and vegetables. Ideas for exploration include, but are not limited to; encouraging home growing, creating growing space, a garden share scheme, a local box scheme, greater uptake of the Farmers' market, promotion of suppliers of local/ seasonal produce, and training in cooking & healthy eating.

Cwm Clydach Energy Project Phase 2

This project is being delivered by Cwm Clydach Development Trust. Cwm Clydach is a Communities First area.

Cwm Clydach Development Trust were successful in winning funding as part of the Low Carbon Communities Challenge. They have completed the first stage of this by successfully installing a 60KW Hydro turbine that is now generating electricity . The second stage of the project was to support households in their community to reduce their energy consumption.

They are interested in looking at a number of possibilities initially they will be focusing on saving energy through simple Behaviour Changes. They are considering a number of different ways of engaging people in the area including a joint project with the local primary schools, through their partnership and active community groups and identifying interested households within the community.

1 in 10

Wheelrights are a cycle campaign group in Swansea. They aim to:

  1. To encourage and assist potential cyclists to take up cycling and thereby prepare them for using a bike as a means of transportation.
  2. To campaign for better provision for cyclists in the Swansea Bay area.
  3. To provide information about cycling related activities.

A group of members within Wheelrights were keen to encourage more people to cycle in Swansea. They came up with the 1 in 10 campaign concept after a conversation with a colleague who admitted that they would like to cycle more but could only commit to 1 in 10 journeys.

The group decided that they would target commuters for the project. They have made contact with the South West Wales Travel Consortium (SWWITCH) who have provided them with links to local businesses in Swansea that are keen to encourage more people to cycle to work. The group are able to offer a number of measures to support commuters keen to try cycling. They can advise them on the safest and easiest routes to their place of work, they can offer to travel with them for the first couple of journeys and they can provide cycle training to those that are not confident cyclists.

They will also raise the profile of cycling through a number of events such as commuter challenges, sponsored bike rides, the gower cycling festival, press releases and getting support from local celebrities for the campaign.

Creation Development Trust is a social enterprise that was set up in 2000 by members of the local community to address the Social, Environmental and Economic needs of the Garw Valley.

Creation Development Trust have been developing and delivering a number of projects promoting locally sourced, fresh, healthy produce. Creation's food projects include a community growing project, healthy cooking projects, a number of local food events and a project to develop a community run local food shop and a local food box scheme. Creation delivers a very successful Timebank which is considered to be the largest in the UK, a number of the Timecentres' members act as Food Ambassadors on a voluntary basis helping the organisation to deliver and promote their projects.

Pathfinder will be focusing on the impact of the new Shop and Veg box scheme. They offer an alternative for people in the local area to buy food that is locally sourced and to carry out some of their shopping in the local area or via a delivery service. They are interested in identifying the barriers to people taking up these opportunities and then using Community Based Social Marketing as a tool to encourage local people to utilise these services and reduce their carbon emissions.

Empower Women Too

Women Connect First is a charity formed in 2001 to empower Black & Minority Ethnic (BME) women and help them to fully integrate in the Welsh Society. They work with BME women in Cardiff by offering a range of free services / training to equip them with the skills and confidence necessary for them to improve their employability. The charity targets particularly disadvantaged, isolated and marginalised BME women who are experiencing multiple layers of discrimination and exclusion in accessing services and employment. Women Connect First has been running a number of environmental initiatives as part of a Big Lottery funded Empower Women Too. This includes a community allotment project being run by an active group of 10-15 volunteers, workshops on reducing domestic energy use and combating fuel poverty and embedding sustainability themes into their programme of outings, workshops and tutorials. Through increasing their engagement and sense of belonging to the local environment, these activities seek to encourage those involved to take action to improve their local environment and adopt more sustainable lifestyles.

The Pathfinder programme will be working with staff and volunteers of Women Connect First to develop sustainable behaviour change initiatives building on the community allotment project. This will include developing links and activities with other community growing projects in Cardiff and support the sharing of knowledge of different ways of growing and cooking food from a diverse range of cultures.

Bangor Students Union

Bangor University's Students Union has a dedicated officer who's responsibilities include environmental and sustainability issues within the Students Union. This work has been given a direct focus in recent years as they have been working towards achieving Green Impact Awards. The Officer is in his second year in post which means he is familiar with the role and is eager to move on and develop new projects as well as building on the existing ones. All with the grand original budget of £500! Once the students return in mid September then they can start putting together a group and move on from there.

As of now the projects are undecided as it all depends on the ideas of the students who have not returned yet. However some preliminary ideas that have been sent in ahead or are still around from last year include; a food coop of local products, encouraging provision of local and seasonal food on campus menus, rainwater harvesting on the university's allotment site, and a project to reduce student's energy consumption on the campus.

Energy Descent

The Energy Descent project is associated with the EcoBro group who have decided to run a scheme to encourage and enable behaviour change in relation to household energy consumption. Mainly based in the area around Llanfrothen, Gwynedd, 20 households have signed up to take part in the initial stages

The Energy Descent project will work by installing energy monitors in the 20 households and measuring the energy consumption over an initial one month period. The results will be analysed and a report produced for each household. Following on from this the participants will come together at regular intervals to compare results and learning, and decide on the next appropriate course of action. Recently the group has decided to broaden it's remit to engage the general community in the area through various events and workshops, and to run a green consumers project to look at how they can change their buying behaviour and/or make it easier for others to change theirs to benefit the environment.

Dref Werdd Heating Project

The Dref Werdd Heating Project in Tanygrisiau, Blaenau Ffestiniog is initially targeting 30 households, concentrating their efforts on behaviour changes relating to household heating. It is part of the successful Dref Werdd project In Blaenau Ffestiniog which has been running since 2008, and they envisage follow on projects sharing the learning with their local communities.

The Dref Werdd Heating Project will employ a local energy consultant to create an individual review of the energy consumption and cost of household heating in all 30 households, and then the group will work with the households to discover ways of reducing both through simple and achievable behaviour changes. The project will also be working with local key workers (such as plumbers and electricians) to encourage them to share the good practices and advice with other households they visit during their day to day work.

Cymuned Llanidloes - Prosiect Ynni Ysgol

Daeth Atebion Ynni Llanidloes (LLES), grwp cynghori ar ynni lleol, at y Rhaglen Braenaru i'w cynorthwyo i ddod o hyd i ffyrdd o gyrraedd at aelwydydd sydd ddim yn ymwneud, yn draddodiadol, â chadwraeth ynni. Maent yn ceisio dod o hyd i nawdd at gyfer y prosiect ar hyn o bryd.

Gan ddynodi pobl ifanc mewn ysgolion fel grwp targed posibl, mae LLES yn bwriadu hyfforddi pobl ifanc yn Ysgol Uwchradd Llanidloes i fod yn rheolwyr ynni, a byddant wedyn yn datblygu cynllun gweithredu ar gyfer eu hysgol. Gan eu gwneud yn fwy cyflogadwy, bydd y bobl ifanc yn mynd allan i'r gymuned ar leoliadau gwaith, gan ddatblygu cynlluniau gweithredu penodol ar gyfer busnesau lleol ac adeiladau'r sector cyhoeddus. Bydd pob cynllun gweithredu yn cynnwys nifer o newidiadau ymddygiad cost isel, ynghyd ag argymhellion ar gyfer gwella seilwaith. Bydd nifer o weithgareddau'n cydredeg â'i gilydd i ymestyn ymddygiad cadwraeth ynni o'r ysgol i'r cartref. Gyda'r pwyslais ar gael hwyl, bydd rhai gweithgareddau'n cynnwys noddi staff dysgu a disgyblion i weithredu mesurau cadwraeth ynni yn eu cartrefi.

Cymdeithas Gymunedol Penfro yn yr 21 G - Prosiect Bwyd Gall Penfro Wneud Gwahaniaeth

Yn dilyn degawd o gyflawni prosiectau llwyddiannus yn y dref, mae Penfro yn yr 21 G ar hyn o bryd yn gweithio ar brosiect bwyd newydd o'r enw "Gall Penfro wneud gwahaniaeth". Gyda chefnogaeth grant cam un Amgylchedd Cymru: Cefnogi Byw Cynaliadwy a'r Rhaglen Braenaru, mae'r grwp yn archwilio'r ffyrdd gorau o helpu pobl i wneud dewisiadau mwy cynaliadwy yn ymwneud â bwyd. Mae'r prosiect hefyd yn ceisio gwneud yr effaith y gallai'r newid yn yr hinsawdd ei gael ar gyflenwad a chost bwyd ym Mhenfro yn llai.

Bydd y prosiect yn rhoi pwyslais arbennig ar gynyddu faint o ffrwythau a llysiau tymhorol sy'n cael eu cynhyrchu a'u defnyddio'n lleol. Mae'r syniadau sy'n cael eu harchwilio yn cynnwys, ond heb eu cyfyngu i; annog tyfu ffrwythau a llysiau gartref, creu lle i dyfu, cynllun rhannu gerddi, cynllun blwch llysiau lleol, mwy o ddefnydd o farchnad y Ffermwyr, hyrwyddo cynhyrchwyr cynnyrch lleol a thymhorol, a hyfforddiant ar goginio a bwyta'n iach.

Prosiect Ynni Cwm Clydach - Cam 2

Mae'r prosiect hwn yn cael ei gyflwyno gan Ymddiriedolaeth Datblygu Cwm Clydach. Mae Cwm Clydach yn ardal Cymunedau yn Gyntaf.

Roedd Ymddiriedolaeth Datblygu Cwm Clydach yn llwyddiannus yn cael nawdd fel rhan o'r Her Cymunedau Carbon Isel. Maent wedi cwblhau'r cam cyntaf trwy osod tyrbin dwr 60KW sydd bellach yn cynhyrchu trydan. Ail gam y prosiect yw cefnogi aelwydydd yn eu cymuned i leihau faint o ynni maent yn ei ddefnyddio.

Mae gan y grwp ddiddordeb mewn edrych ar nifer o bosibiliadau, ond yn gyntaf, byddant yn canolbwyntio ar arbed ynni trwy Newidiadau Ymddygiad syml. Maent yn ystyried nifer o wahanol ffyrdd o ddod i gysylltiad â phobl yn yr ardal, yn cynnwys prosiect ar y cyd ag ysgolion cynradd lleol, trwy eu partneriaeth â grwpiau cymunedol bywiog a dod o hyd i aelwydydd sydd â diddordeb o fewn eu cymuned.

Mae Wheelrights yn grwp ymgyrchu seiclo yn Abertawe. Eu bwriad yw:

  1. Annog a chynorthwyo seiclwyr posibl i ddechrau seiclo, ac felly eu paratoi ar gyfer defnyddio beic fel dull o deithio.
  2. Ymgyrchu i gael gwell darpariaeth i seiclwyr yn ardal Bae Abertawe.
  3. Darparu gwybodaeth am weithgareddau yn ymwneud â seiclo.

Roedd grwp o aelodau o fewn Wheelrights yn awyddus i annog rhagor o bobl i seiclo yn Abertawe. Cawsant y syniad ar gyfer ymgyrch 1 mewn 10 yn dilyn sgwrs â chydweithiwr, oedd yn dweud y byddai'n hoffi gallu seiclo mwy, ond mai dim ond i 1 taith mewn 10 y gallai ymrwymo.

Penderfynodd y grwp dargedu cymudwyr ar gyfer y prosiect. Maent wedi cysylltu â Chonsortiwm Cludiant De-orllewin Cymru (SWWITCH) sydd wedi eu rhoi mewn cysylltiad â busnesau lleol yn Abertawe sy'n awyddus i annog rhagor o bobl i seiclo i'r gwaith. Mae'r grwp yn gallu cynnig nifer o fesurau i gefnogi cymudwyr sy'n awyddus i roi tro ar seiclo. Gallant roi cyngor iddynt ar y llwybrau mwyaf diogel a hawsaf iddynt i'w gwaith, gallant gynnig teithio gyda hwy am y siwrneiau cyntaf, a gallant roi hyfforddiant seiclo i'r rhai sydd ddim yn seiclwyr hyderus.

Byddant hefyd yn codi ymwybyddiaeth o seiclo trwy nifer o ddigwyddiadau fel heriau cymudwyr, teithiau beic noddedig, gwyl seiclo Gwyr, datganiadau i'r wasg a chael cefnogaeth enwogion lleol i'r ymgyrch.

Prosiectau Bwyd Go Iawn

Mae Ymddiriedolaeth Ddatblygu Creation yn fenter gymdeithasol a sefydlwyd yn y flwyddyn 2000 gan aelodau o'r gymuned i fynd i'r afael ag anghenion Cymdeithasol, Amgylcheddol ac Economaidd Cwm Garw.

Mae Ymddiriedolaeth Ddatblygu Creation wedi bod yn datblygu a chyflwyno nifer o brosiectau yn hyrwyddo cynnyrch lleol, ffres ac iach. Mae prosiectau bwyd Creation yn cynnwys prosiect tyfu lleol, prosiectau coginio iach, nifer o ddigwyddiadau bwyd lleol a phrosiect i ddatblygu siop fwyd leol sy'n cael ei rhedeg gan y gymuned a chynllun blwch bwyd lleol. Mae gan Creation Fanc Amser (Timebank) hynod lwyddiannus, sy'n cael ei ystyried fel y mwyaf yn y DG, ac mae nifer o aelodau'r Canolfannau Amser (Timecentres) yn gweithredu fel Llysgenhadon Bwyd gwirfoddol, gan helpu'r mudiad i gyflwyno a hyrwyddo eu prosiectau.

Bydd y Rhaglen Braenaru yn canolbwyntio ar effaith i Siop newydd a'r cynllun Blwch Llysiau. Maent yn cynnig dewis arall i bobl yr ardal o ran prynu bwyd lleol, ac i wneud rhywfaint o'u siopa'n lleol neu trwy wasanaeth dosbarthu. Mae ganddynt ddiddordeb mewn gweld beth yw'r rhwystrau sy'n atal pobl rhag cymryd y cyfleoedd hyn, ac yna'n defnyddio Marchnata Cymdeithasol yn y Gymuned fel offeryn i annog pobl leol i ddefnyddio'r gwasanaethau hyn a lleihau faint o garbon y byddant yn ei ryddhau.

Futurespace

Mae Futurespace Trelái a Chaerau yn grwp o drigolion lleol sy'n brysur yn datblygu prosiect Futurespace.

Mae prosiect Futurespace yn ceisio creu dyfodol cynaliadwy yng Nghymru trwy weithio â chymunedau yn Nhrelái a Chaerau. Y ddau nod allweddol sydd ganddynt yw: (i) creu cymunedau cynaliadwy trwy leihau'r defnydd o adnoddau naturiol a lleihau faint o garbon gaiff ei ryddhau; a (ii) ymdrin â phwnc tlodi tanwydd, sy'n cael effaith fwy na'r hyn sy'n arferol ar Drelái a Chaerau a chymunedau tebyg sy'n dioddef o amddifadedd lluosog. Mae grwp Futurespace hefyd yn gweithio gyda Chymunedau yn Gyntaf Trelái a Chaerau a'r Ymddiriedolaeth Ddatblygu newydd - Action for Caerau and Ely (ACE) i ddatblygu ffynonellau incwm cynaliadwy trwy'r prosiect. Mae'r holl amser a roddir i'r prosiect gan wirfoddolwyr Futurespace yn cael ei roi mewn banc amser, gyda chredydau amser yn cael eu rhoi am bob awr a wirfoddolwyd. Gellir cyfnewid Credydau Amser am wasanaethau a gweithgareddau a roddwyd gan fudiadau lleol i'r prosiect.

Mae prosiect Futurespace, ar hyn o bryd, yn cynnwys amrywiaeth o weithgareddau yn cynnwys hyrwyddo gosod paneli solar ar gartrefi yn Nhrelái a Chaerau, cynnig arolygon lleihau'r defnydd ynni yn y cartref am ddim i drigolion yr ardal, datblygu rhaglen gyngor unigol am ddim yn defnyddio'r data a gasglwyd yn ystod yr arolygon cartref, galluogi trigolion lleol i ostwng eu biliau tanwydd, a chael gafael mewn cynnyrch i helpu teuluoedd i leihau eu defnydd o adnoddau naturiol. Bydd y gweithgareddau hyn yn cael eu cynnal gan grwp gwirfoddolwyr Futurespace sydd wedi cael cyngor ar sut i weithio gyda deiliaid tai i gefnogi newid cynaliadwy mewn ymddygiad. Mae grwp Futurespace hefyd yn bwriadu llunio adroddiad ar eu gweithgareddau, a fydd ar gael i grwpiau cymunedol eraill, a fydd yn amlinellu'r rhwystrau sy'n bodoli sy'n atal y gymuned rhag lleihau'r defnydd o ynni a'r strategaethau sydd ar gael i oresgyn y rhwystrau hynny.

Empower Women Too

Mae Women Connect First yn elusen a ffurfiwyd yn 2001 i rymuso merched o Leiafrifoedd Du ac Ethnig a'u helpu i integreiddio'n llawn i Gymdeithas Cymru. Maent yn gweithio â merched o leiafrifoedd du ac ethnig yng Nghaerdydd trwy gynnig amrywiaeth o wasanaethau a hyfforddiant am ddim, i roi'r sgiliau a'r hyder angenrheidiol iddynt fod yn fwy cyflogadwy. Mae'r elusen yn targedu merched o leiafrifoedd du ac ethnig sydd dan anfantais neilltuol, sydd wedi'i hynysu a'u gwthio i'r ymylon, sy'n profi nifer o haenau o wahaniaethu a dieithrio wrth gael gwasanaethau a gwaith. Mae Women Connect First wedi bod yn cynnal nifer o fentrau amgylcheddol fel rhan o brosiect Empower Women Too, sydd wedi'i ariannu gan y Gronfa Loteri Fawr. Mae hyn yn cynnwys prosiect rhandiroedd cymunedol sy'n cael ei redeg gan grwp bywiog o 10-15 o wirfoddolwyr, gweithdai ar leihau'r defnydd o ynni yn y cartref ac ymdrin â thlodi tanwydd, a chynnwys themâu cynaladwyedd yn eu rhaglen o ymweliadau, gweithdai a sesiynau tiwtorial. Trwy gynyddu eu hymgysylltiad a'u teimlad o berthyn i'w hamgylchedd leol, mae'r gweithgareddau hyn yn ceisio annog y rhai hynny sy'n cymryd rhan i wella eu hamgylchedd leol a mabwysiadu ffordd fwy cynaliadwy o fyw.

Bydd y Rhaglen Braenaru yn gweithio gyda staff a gwirfoddolwyr Women Connect First i ddatblygu mentrau newid ymddygiad cynaliadwy, gan adeiladu ar y prosiect rhandiroedd cymunedol. Bydd hyn yn cynnwys datblygu cysylltiadau a gweithgareddau gyda phrosiectau tyfu cymunedol eraill yng Nghaerdydd, ac yn cefnogi rhannu gwybodaeth am wahanol ffyrdd o dyfu a choginio bwyd o amrywiaeth eang o ddiwylliannau.

Undeb Myfyrwyr Bangor

Mae gan Undeb Myfyrwyr Bangor swyddog sydd â'i gyfrifoldebau'n cynnwys materion amgylcheddol a chynaladwyedd o fewn Undeb y Myfyrwyr. Mae'r gwaith hwn wedi cael ffocws uniongyrchol dros y blynyddoedd diwethaf, wrth i'r Undeb weithio tuag at gael Gwobrau Effaith Gwyrdd. Mae'r Swyddog yn ei ail flwyddyn yn ei swydd, sy'n golygu ei fod yn gyfarwydd â'r gwaith ac yn awyddus i symud ymlaen a datblygu prosiectau newydd ynghyd ag adeiladu ar y rhai sy'n bodoli. A'r cwbl gyda chyllideb wreiddiol o £500! Wedi i'r myfyrwyr ddychwelyd yng nghanol mis Medi, bydd modd iddynt gychwyn creu grwp a symud ymlaen o hynny.

Hyd yma, nid oes penderfyniad ar brosiectau, ac mae'r cwbl yn dibynnu ar syniadau'r myfyrwyr, sydd heb ddychwelyd eto. Serch hynny, mae rhai o'r syniadau dechreuol sydd wedi cael eu hanfon o flaen llaw, neu wedi parhau ers y flwyddyn ddiwethaf yn cynnwys; 'co-op' bwyd o gynnyrch lleol, annog darparu bwyd lleol a thymhorol ar fwydlenni'r campws, system cynaeafu dwr glaw ar safle rhandiroedd y brifysgol, a phrosiect i leihau faint o ynni a ddefnyddir gan y myfyrwyr ar y campws.

Disgyniad Egni

Mae prosiect Disgyniad Egni yn cael ei gynnal o dan adain grwp EcoBro, sydd wedi penderfynu cynnal cynllun i annog a galluogi newid ymddygiad yn ymwneud â'r defnydd o ynni yn y cartref. Mae tuag 20 o gartrefi, yn yr ardal o amgylch Llanfrothen, Gwynedd yn bennaf, wedi cofrestru i gymryd rhan yn y camau dechreuol.

Bydd prosiect Disgyniad Egni yn gweithio trwy osod monitorau ynni yn yr 20 cartref gan fesur yr ynni a ddefnyddir dros gyfnod dechreuol o fis. Bydd y canlyniadau'n cael eu dadansoddi a bydd adroddiad yn cael ei lunio ar gyfer pob cartref. Yn dilyn hynny, bydd yr aelwydydd yn dod at ei gilydd yn rheolaidd i gymharu canlyniadau a'r hyn maent wedi'i ddysgu, a phenderfynu ar y camau priodol nesaf i'w cymryd. Yn ddiweddar, mae'r grwp wedi penderfynu ymestyn ei gylch gorchwyl i gysylltu â'r gymuned yn gyffredinol yn yr ardal trwy amrywiaeth o ddigwyddiadau a gweithdai, ac i gynnal prosiect defnyddwyr gwyrdd i edrych ar sut y gallant newid eu hymddygiad prynu a/neu ei gwneud yn haws i eraill newid eu hymddygiad hwy er budd yr amgylchedd.

Prosiect Gwresogi'r Dref Werdd

Mae Prosiect Gwresogi'r Dref Werdd yn Nhanygrisiau, Blaenau Ffestiniog yn targedu 30 aelwyd yn y lle cyntaf, gan ganolbwyntio'u hymdrechion ar newidiadau i ymddygiad yn ymwneud â gwresogi'r cartref. Mae'n rhan o brosiect llwyddiannus y Dref Werdd ym Mlaenau Ffestiniog, sydd wedi bod ar waith ers 2008, ac maent yn rhagweld y byddant yn cynnal prosiectau i ddilyn hyn er mwyn rhannu'r hyn y byddant yn ei ddysgu â'u cymunedau lleol.

Bydd Prosiect Gwresogi'r Dref Werdd yn cyflogi ymgynghorydd ynni lleol i greu adolygiad unigol o'r defnydd o ynni a'r costau gwresogi ym mhob un o'r 30 aelwyd, ac yna, bydd y grwp yn gweithio gyda'r aelwydydd i ganfod ffyrdd o ostwng y defnydd a'r costau trwy newidiadau syml ac ymarferol i ymddygiad. Bydd y prosiect hefyd yn gweithio â gweithwyr lleol allweddol (fel plymwyr a thrydanwyr) i'w hannog i rannu'r arferion da a'r cyngor gyda'r aelwydydd eraill y byddant yn ymweld â hwy yn eu gwaith o ddydd i ddydd.
