GET Project
Gloucestershire Environmental Trust

Severn Wye Energy Agency (SWEA) is working in partnership with the Gloucestershire Environmental Trust Company (GET) on a project to promote energy efficiency in community buildings. The project started in April 2007, and has now been extended into 2009. The original aim was to visit 10 sites and carry out energy surveys, although 13 have now been completed, with many more on the waiting list.

These surveys are followed up by a full written report, outlining key energy efficiency measures, the suitability of the building for one or more renewable technologies, and offering advice on grant funding availability from the GET and from other sources. Halls are asked to make a £400 contribution to the cost of the survey, but a claim for this can be included within a GET grant application.

Support

SWEA will also provide post-visit support to community building managers, with regard to seeking quotes, accessing grant money, dealing with planning issues and helping improvements happen as quickly as possible. The GET is responsible for re-distributing income received via the Landfill Communities Fund (via ENTRUST), and using it for projects that enhance the quality of the environment for Gloucestershire and its people.
