What is the Local Authority Support Programme (LASP)?
Under the Home Energy Conservation Act (1995) local authorities with a housing responsibility were given the task of producing a 30% improvement in all housing in their districts over the period 1997 - 2012.
This is an extremely challenging task for local authorities to meet. To help them a number of initiatives have been put in place through the Government funded Energy Saving Trust, one of which is the Local Authority Support Programme (LASP).
| LASP now covers 40% of UK local authorities. It provides extra staff based in local Energy Efficiency Advice Centres who are employed specifically to help local authorities in their energy efficiency work. The Gloucestershire LASP is based in the Severn Wye Energy Agency in Mitcheldean, and covers the 6 authorities of Gloucestershire. |
