Keren joined the agency in 2000, initially as a placement from the Forest of Dean Council, to provide energy advice to residents of the local area. This led to her later role in the Gloucestershire Energy Efficiency Advice Centre team.

With fourteen years experience in Benefits at the Council, and previously at the Unemployment Benefit Office, Keren bought with her a wealth of knowledge of social and welfare issues, customer care and local authority services, of great value to the work of the advice centre.

While at the Council she volunteered to join the cross-departmental Green Team and had developed her knowledge of environmental issues. She was a volunteer member of the Energy Champions group and had undertaken her energy awareness training. Other interests within the community have included the role of Electoral Registration canvasser, which has led to a detailed knowledge of the area, and the responsibilities of Poll Clerk and Presiding Officer at elections.
