Gloucestershire Renewable Energy Grants
for domestic microgeneration

Introduction

Gloucestershire County Council and the six Gloucestershire District Councils are committed to tackling climate change, and have developed Climate Change Strategies. Gloucestershire has entered into a Local Area Agreement with targets to reduce carbon dioxide emissions through domestic energy saving, and an increase in the uptake of renewable energy installations.

The Gloucestershire Renewable Energy Grant (GREG) scheme and advice service formed an integral part of this Local Area Agreement. Gloucestershire County Council and District Councils together committed up to £200,000 for domestic renewable energy grants over the two financial years to 31 March 2010. This helped to fund 200 domestic renewable energy installations (with £1,000 grants), with a minimum of 17 installations ring-fenced for each District. All districts are now fully allocated.
