Renewable energy installations for domestic properties are now supported primarily by the Feed-In Tariffs and forthcoming Renewable Heat Incentive. All mainstream national and local grant schemes have now closed.
PLEASE NOTE - for all new domestic installations, SWEA maintains a list of local accredited installers (updated 19 Mar) who are able to carry out the required work. You must use an installer accredited under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) to be eligible for the feed-in tariff. All installers on our list meet the required criteria.
For those residing in the South Gloucestershire unitary authority area, grants were made available from 2007-2010 for domestic microgeneration technologies. Unfortunately, all grants have now been committed and the scheme has now closed to new applications.
During 2008/09, grants were made available for domestic microgeneration to all residents of Gloucestershire. Unfortunately, all grants have been committed and the scheme has now closed in all districts.
The decision has been taken by the new government to close the Low Carbon Buildings Programme (all phases) to new applications immediately, as of 24 May 2010. Applications sent in prior to this date will still be considered, and existing grant offers will of course be honoured. Although this news is disappointing, our understanding is that the funding pot was close to exhausted anyway. Originally, the LCBP was intended to run into 2011 - for heat technologies only - with the Renewable Heat Incentive taking over from April 2011. Unfortunately, there will now be a gap in support, although all renewable heat installations commissioned this year will be eligible for RHI payments from then.
