Graham has worked in sustainable energy since 1994, with experience in the private, public and voluntary sectors, including the Friends of the Earth climate campaign, Franklin Associates renewable energy consultancy and the Forest of Dean District Council. He has been with the Energy Agency since it was set up under the EU SAVE programme in 1997.

Graham has managed a variety of projects in both renewable energy and energy efficiency, including grant schemes, research, market development, community-based renewables, and public consultation on renewable energy. He has managed the SWEA input to two further European programmes concerning the development of a market for refined biomass, and renewable energy in schools, in partnership with Austrian, Swedish, Spanish, French, Belgian and Norwegian agencies.

Graham has developed an impressive track record in strategic work on sustainable energy and input into policy, and is a valued contributor at local, regional and national level. A particular strength which gives him an important role in the SWEA team is his wide understanding of the technical, social and political issues around all the subjects with which the agency is concerned, including renewable energy, energy efficiency, affordable warmth and climate change.
