Severn
Wye Energy Agency (SWEA) is a charitable company, with a programme of work
to develop the sustainable use of energy in the sub-region. Projects cover
energy efficiency, renewable energy and affordable warmth, and include the
provision of an Energy Efficiency Advice Centre (EEAC) for households and
small businesses in Gloucestershire.
Responsible to:
EEAC Manager
Hours of work:
20 hours per week. Some
evening or weekend work may be required, with time off in lieu on hour for
hour basis.

Salary: £13,000 - £14,500 pa pro rata, depending on qualifications
and experience
Transport: SWEA policy is to consider public transport option for
every journey. However, the need to
carry exhibition materials and leaflets, and the limitations of rural public
transport provision mean that the use of a car is required.
The
employee’s ability to use their own car to travel throughout Gloucestershire,
and immediate surroundings, is a requirement of this post. Expenses will be
reimbursed at standard mileage rates, with the exception of travel to the
SWEA offices, and assuming residency in or near the area.
Answering
and giving advice through the energy efficiency telephone advice line in line
with standards required by the Energy Efficiency Code of Practice.
Computer
processing of home energy questionnaires and sending out written advice reports.
Recording
of client information on relevant computerised systems and referral of clients
to the appropriate grant schemes.
Delivery
of face to face energy advice for example to through surgeries, home visits,
advice stalls at events.
Promoting
the energy efficiency advice service, including preparation and dissemination
of materials, development of new promotional route and methods.
Arranging,
setting up and attending presentations, displays and stalls at community events
throughout Gloucestershire
Maintaining
records and reporting on activities verbally and in writing
Maintaining
the EEAC library of information and contacts.
Participating
in and helping to develop special projects to promote sustainable energy in
the region.
Attend
EEAC and SWEA team meetings as required
Other
activities and participation in other SWEA projects, as required.
SWEA
staff are expected to carry out their own administrative/IT work, including
word-processing, internet research, e-mail, maintenance of advice records
and database, timesheets and expenses records.
Qualities sought:
Essential

communication skills both telephone and face to face, clear speech, positive
and friendly approach.
Excellent
customer care skills - willingness to understand and deal effectively with
customer enquiries.
Numerate
and literate - good verbal and written skills
Computer
literate: Windows, Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint, e-mail, internet.
Willingness
to undertake training and learn new skills
Ability
to work on own initiative when necessary able to manage own time but must
be team worker committed to success of whole team.
Flexible
and good-humoured approach, willing to adapt to the changing needs of a small
organisation
Enthusiasm
and commitment to environmental/social welfare objectives
Ability
to understand technical information
Ability/willingness
to make effort to keep up to date with energy issues
Ability
to follow office systems, e.g. to keep tidy and efficient records, and to
develop new systems as required
Driving
licence and own car to use
Academic
qualifications in relevant discipline e.g. environment, engineering, ecology,
marketing, housing, health and social services
Based
in Gloucestershire – with a good knowledge of area
Experience
